DAVID WILSON

PROJECT DIRECTOR

David is a seasoned traveller from the UK, who has been involved in various humanitarian projects over the last few years. It all started back in 2014 when he visited Kolkata and decided to join the Sisters of Charity, working with the sick and destitute. Since then he was volunteering for ‘Habitat for Humanity Philippines’ in early 2015 after typhoon Yolanda where he learned to lay concrete blocks. Yolanda hit in 2013, a tragedy of the similar magnitude as the earthquake in Nepal. Here David helped to build 15 Houses for a new village on Bantayan Island. Later that year, he flew out to Nepal and helped his friends with small relief projects which led them to start their own project for Monisa’s family.

David started this project with his friend Marie and partnered with a new NGO, ‘Bring thoughts to Action’. It was also at this time when he decided to sponsor Monisa. He is fully supporting the school, and has coordinated serious assessments, talks and negotiations with his team, the school and landowner resulting in the signing of legal agreements approved by the local VDC government. ‘Building Budland’ was born.

UJWAL LAGE

PROJECT ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Ujwal is originally from Bhaktapur city. He has a BA degree in Accounting, but after the earthquake he decided to help the people who were affected and then began working for the NGO ‘Bring Thoughts To Action’, collaborating closely with David. They became good friends whilst building Monisa’s house in the village. Since then Ujwal has continued building many houses and has gained much valuable knowledge from the experience.

Ujwal has been a major credit to helping David get this project off the ground with pure passion in various mediums making himself available when possible and sharing the responsibility.

Ujwal and David have worked together to make sure Monisa’s sponsorship is successful as they are both passionately committed to it’s success.

DILMAN TAMANG

BUDLAND SCHOOL DIRECTOR

Dilman is a founding director of Budland School and over saw the original development of the school building. Passionate about education, Dilman believes all children deserve and equal chance in life. Fully onboard with the rebuild project, he has helped us cut through a lot of the red tape associated with planning permission and Nepai law.

SANGEET SHRESTHA

Sangeet is a local from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. He has always wanted to help people given the chance. The residents of Kathmandu Valley were having a hard time following the devastation of the earthquake in 2015. Sangeet immediately began delivering food with his team, helping those who either couldn’t go home or who were scared. He is a childhood friend of Sange and current business partner with Ujwal in a local hostel. He met David after the earthquake but more recently they have also become close friends. He has always been fully committed to the project whenever needed, including helping to translate and negotiate the scholarship contracts for Budland School, as well as the use of the building for up to 100 years.

The Team

SANGE SHERPA

Sange is from a village in north east Nepal and lives in Kathmandu. After the earthquakes he became a humanitarian. He previously also worked for ‘Bring Thoughts to Action’ in a number of different roles including as a volunteer co-ordinator. He first met David at their office, and once the partnership was formed he began sending volunteers to the Monisa House build, also joining in himself when time allowed. Since this project started he has supported it fully, volunteering with his time to help when needed, and translating where necessary, with a gratefully needed depth of experience, to lawyers, the VDC government, and for David too.
